Ghost notes
3d floor Gulley Hall
On what must have been my third day on the job here at UConn back in 2007, Senior Vice Provost Suman Singha quietly took me aside and explained – in calm, measured tones – that my office, and in fact the entire Gulley Hall administration building, is haunted. Being from the no-nonsense Midwest, I thanked Dr. Singha for his warnings but privately wondered a little about my colleague. Staff members relayed similar concerns. Later that first semester, some “ghost chasers” from Massachusetts came to campus and caused a lot of commotion looking for spirits somewhere over by the cemetery. Again I shook my head.

To appease Dr. Singha, and also to try to get into the ‘spirit’ of things, I wrote a blog entry about the Gulley Hall ghost. However, recent developments have led me to reconsider my earlier skepticism. At our last Senior Administrative Team meeting, we decided that the situation requires professional help. Following proper state procurement procedures, we have secured the services of a professional mitigation team who will be on site at a moment’s notice.
