UConn students weren’t the only ones getting spooky this Halloween! This past Wednesday marked the third annual Wilbur Cross Costume Contest, a UConn tradition full of tricks and treats.
Every office within the Wilbur Cross building dressed up for the holiday and decorated their physical office. On the actual day of Halloween, a panel of judges took a tour of the offices, where the Halloween spectacular commenced. Each office worked to outdo the other, and the displays and costumes have been getting more creative and elaborate with every passing year. This year was no disappointment, with a stacked lineup of costumes and displays. Scroll through the photos below to see some of the most eye-catching offices!
The 2018 costume contest was kicked off with glitter and groove! The judges started off the tour with the upstairs Office of Financial Aid, who created a 70s-themed disco fit for the Bee Gees themselves.
The upstairs Office of the Bursar then offered us all a sweet treat: UConn not only runs on Dunkin', but on the Bursar's office, too!
The Enrollment Department of the Office of the Registrar was full of superheroes.
Halloween is the time to be spooky and the downstairs Office of Financial Aid did not disappoint! Here they are dancing around as waving inflatable tubes.
The Center for Career Development created a real-life Scrabble game.
The entire event was documented on our Instagram Story, where UConn students, alumni, and other followers could interact with the contest in real time and vote for their favorites. While every office got positive responses, there were a high number of responses for Financial Aid 2 (inflatable tubes) and Bursar’s 2 (candy).

Funniest Costume – Financial Aid - downstairs (car salesmen)

Best Group Costume – Center for Students with Disabilities (Disney)
Judges’ Wildcard for Costume – Center for Students with Disabilities (Disney)
Judges’ Wildcard for Office Decorations – Center for Career Development (Scrabble)
Best Individual Costume – Terra Zuidema as Gaia (Registrar)
